Fab Friday #13 Favorites
As I mentioned last week, I misguidedly decided I should start painting my house in the middle of all this chaos.
In the 12 years I’ve had the house, I was never been quite sure what to do with the trim…it was built in 1924, and all of the trim had long since been painted over – but the doors still had their original dark finish. White trim seemed like too much of a contrast, but I wasn’t sure about going over the doors.
So I wussed out and just painted the trim the same color as the walls – they all look something like this:
I tend to waffle back and forth between lusting after all things light and bright in my house, and craving a warm and cozy snuggle-up-by-the-fire abode.
The last time I repainted was in the middle of an especially frigid February – so I went with a warm and cozy color scheme. Now with the all the changes I have going on I’m absolutely dying to get rid of it all. The rooms seem cave-like to me, and quite honestly it’s making me feel dark, dreary and depressed.
I’m sure it has nothing to do with the fact that my business just went under and my boyfriend broke up with me…it’s definitely the decor… ![]()
I knew the doors would take some work to cover up, but I really had no idea how much of a project it would be. The doors are taking 2 coats of primer plus 3-4 coats of paint, the trim is taking 3-4 coats of paint.
And this is after I switched to the more expensive paint + primer combo. I don’t enjoy painting trim ONCE, you know?
There is no question that this is going to absolutely transform the whole house, but I must be certifiable to think that diving into this right now was a good idea. I’m really digging the way it looks, and at some point I will have some very dramatic before and after shots for everyone here in BlogLand…until then, I am living vicariously through all your much, much more fun projects.
Here a few of my favorites from last week:
Emily over at MLE’s ABCs turned this plain outdoor rug:
Into this super-stylish addition to her outdoor space:
Erin at Where Beauty Meets Function snazzed up her plain chandelier with some jute:
Much better, don’t you think? And easy. I like easy.
And Courtney from Between U & Me came up with these adorable ladybug cookies that she made from regular Oreos:
Too cute for words!
Ladies, feel free to grab my “I’ve been featured” button over the side bar.
I’ll have this week’s Fab Friday party up tonight and it will run through Sunday – so be sure to link up everything you’ve been working on.
