Fab Friday Favorites…and a quick bulletin from Crazyland
A couple months ago I made the decision to move my old business out of our commercial building. Over the last month (and just a week after moving back into the house myself) I’ve been gradually moving it a little at a time into my home. This weekend was the final push – I had to get everything out by August 31.
I have been scaling back. I sold quite a bit on Craigslist, and I’ve thrown out or donated a lot – but there was still a ton left…not surprising after 10+ years in business. I’ve 2 garage sales this summer and have another scheduled this weekend.
I’m not a math genius but moving the contents of a 2300 sq. ft space and into a 1400 sq ft home (that already houses 2 people plus the contents of the house and and extra apartment full of furniture) sounds a little problematic, don’t you think?
I rented a storage space to house anything I thought I could use in my new home staging business. I had visions of an orderly space where I could come and browse through art, linens and furniture for my projects:
Not so much…and I’ve packed more in there since this picture was taken. You can’t get to anything without pulling furniture out.
My basement is also packed with furniture – mostly future refinishing projects:
And my little one car detached garage contains another pile of furniture – mostly things I want to use in my house after I paint and redecorate – plus surplus gift basket stuff:
But the worst part is the interior of my house. The remnants of the business had to go somewhere, so it all got crammed inside.
My living room:
There used to be a fireplace in there…
My dining room:
And the rest of the house is more of the same….to navigate through you have to tiptoe through the very narrow path snaking through the house. My bedroom contains cases of gourmet food, bubble wrap and the UPS scale.
I have veered dangerously close to “Hoarders” territory. Do you think they pay people to be on the show???? Hmmmm…..
Now that I’ve gotten rid of that big building, I know it will only get better from here…but at the moment – I AM BURIED IN CRAP.
Anyway…a few of my favorites from Fab Friday #14:
Camie from Home is Where they Love You transformed this pine cocktail table:
Into this adorable distressed piece:
Love this!
Suzanne from Meridian Road turned this little bookcase:
Into this:
Suzanne, I totally agree – everything IS cuter with bead board and paint.
And “Frenchy” from Le Chateau des Fleurs shared her recipe for fall cookies:
These sound yummy and super easy – can’t wait to try them.
I also really enjoyed Allison’s posts on getting settled into her new home over at the House of Hepworths:
I can TOTALLY relate to all the really UN-fun things you have to do moving into a new place before you can get around to making everything pretty…sigh….someday….
Ladies, grab my “I’ve been featured” button if you like…and I’ll have this week’s Fab Friday party up and running tonight around 8pm EST.
