Kicky Kitchen Bulletin Board
The kitchen in the apartment I live in now is the ugliest EVER. I refuse to even post pictures here….it’s too embarrassing.
Think flimsy dark cabinets with peeling laminate from the 70’s (no hardware), faux butcher block laminate counters and cheap appliances. My first apartment when I was 17 was nicer than this….truly.
I’m not going to be here much longer though….it’s official:
I’M MOVING BACK INTO MY HOUSE AUGUST 1!!!!!!!!!!
WHOOOO-HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
But in the meantime, it’s wicked ugly….if it was in a house that I owned, it would be one thing – but it’s a rental and a very short term one at that. The best answer I came up with is to put in bright pops of color to distract from the grossness.
I’ve been thinking about putting some kind of bulletin board in there on the blank wall, and coincidentally I found this old one in the basement over at my house:
I hit it with some primer:
And some punchy green paint:
I bought an extra yard of this fabric a while back when I used it for a no-sew pillow and an art project. I LOVE it because it’s bright and a bit out of character for me. I hot glued it onto the cork:
I had the bulletin board and the paint, so the only cost was the yard of fabric (that I got for 50% off). It was quick and easy and it makes a bright happy spot in this sad, sad space:
